NORR's Tampa office sponsored a lecture given at the Poynter Institute in downtown St. Petersburg last week in association with Boos Development Group. Boos Development Group, based in Clearwater, Florida is an an important client to our Tampa office. Boos' Principal Development Officer, David Morse, is very committed to promoting sustainability and is an active member of Tampa Bay's US Green Building Council. The lecture featured Windmill Developments' Principals Jonathan Westeinde and Joe Van Belleghem. Canadian based Windmill Development is a group of companies dedicated to designing, developing, and building only the best green urban environments. One of their signature projects is Dockside Green located in Victoria, British Columbia. Dockside Green is a planned community with a total 1.3 million square feet of mixed residential, office, retail and commercial space situated on 15 acres of former harborfront industrial land. The project is committed to achieving Platinum LEED Certification. Messrs. Westeinde and Van Belleghem described the history of the project and the many economic, political and ecological challenges they faced with such a complex development.
