NORR Middle East's Vice President and Director of Design flew to Calgary on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 to provide three different lectures for the:
- City of Calgary - “Development Approvals Process for Innovative Projects”
- Calgary Economic Development (CED) - "The Business Case for Signature Buildings” and
- Calgary Architecture & Urban Studies Alliance (CAUSA) - "Dubai: New Architecture Create Great Architecture: A Dialogue for Calgary"
The lectures tied together a common theme on how great architecture is achieved – and its role in creating a vibrant City. Quantitative and qualitative elements as organizations consider investments in iconic buildings were discussed and comparisons between “typical” buildings vs “signature” buildings and the approval process in Dubai and urban planning were key issues that were shared from Yahya Jan's 13 years in Dubai.
